Husband, father, creator, furnishing designer.
I find art in everything. I find inspiration in anyone's creative bent, no matter the media or application. One of my favorite things in life is connecting with someone that exceeds my knowledge, capability or intuition in any area of life, be it design oriented or something else entirely. I'm fascinated by people and everything they are capable of doing, creating, feeling and hoping for.
So, I grew up in Oklahoma City. Our metro area seems to have grown up right along side my generation thanks to the vision and hard work of those that came before us. I'm very excited about and interested in the trajectory of this great city/state. I really believe that in the next ten years we will be turning heads with what this lil o' country state has progressed into, and I'm excited about myself and my business being a part of it's progress any way we can.
I'm an avid district lover, food obsessor, renegade road-tripper and seeker of fantastic music. I thoroughly believe I have the playlist for every occasion. "Sunny Saturday's", "Acoustic Rain", "Dated Hip Hop"... I'm all over the place! Music never stops playing if I can help it. I also write music and am (very slowly) working towards my own album. I am an absolute sucker for a great lyric.
Graffiti may be my absolute favorite art form that I have absolutely no business attempting. Haha! I still try occasionally. When the mood strikes me I'll go re-tag the wall of my shop. I'm getting better, but I'm not putting any eggs in that basket ever being worth a dime. I have a huge respect for artists that work on physically, large scale projects like that. How can you create something when the piece as a whole is far outside your field of view?! No idea! (raises a glass) Here's to you, fellas! ..... (scratches head) and fella-ets??? [insert proper street slang version of a female artist gone rogue, taggin' up the city scape, here]
Simplicity is my goal in life and in design. I try to live as I create and create as I live. I love color, but I hold a great reverence for the classic black and white duo. In my mind, true elegance is achieved when nothing more can be removed from a piece without sacrificing it's potential to serve it's function. Basik was born of this passion.
Now, in many regards, I'm still a little boy. So if your lamp can turn into a periscope, Inspector Gadget, I'm all for it! If that's what makes you happy; let's build it! But let's be sneaky about it. Let's make it look like a lamp, simple and attractive.
So in fewer words, I live to make a desired function fit into a simple, beautiful, understated package
